The work aboard the SS Jeremiah O’Brien is never truly done.
The past two years have brought challenges and opportunities for the ship. After the disruptions caused by the Pier 45 fire, we’ve found a new home at Pier 35 and continue to rebuild and thrive. The success of our last Fleet Week cruise showcased our resilience and commitment to preserving this national treasure. Looking ahead to 2025, we’re gearing up for one of the most comprehensive maintenance periods in the ship’s history.
We concentrated on internal tanks, voids, essential inspections, and routine maintenance during the recent dry dock. These efforts are part of our long-term preservation plan, ensuring the SS Jeremiah O’Brien remains a living testament to the legacy of Liberty ships and the brave individuals who served during World War II.
As we advance toward these critical milestones, your support is more important than ever. Thanks to our community and generous donors, we’ve made remarkable progress, but there’s still more to do. Your contributions help us preserve the history and stories of the Jeremiah O’Brien for future generations to experience and learn from.
Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Join us in safeguarding this iconic piece of history and keeping her spirit alive for all to appreciate.
